LPL 775: Statistics and Research: Getting Started

This guide will assist students in LPL 775 with their research needs.

For my research, I want to focus on Muslim women in higher education.

Begin your research by asking questions, such as:

  • What is the experience of gender in Muslim women’s identity formation?
  • What is the nature of the relationship between Muslim women’s identity and their pursuit of higher education?

To find answers to your questions, search for books, articles, and other types of information on the LWLC's website. Choose the most important words and/or phrases in your research question and connect them by using Boolean Operators.

Search Terms: muslim women AND gender AND identity

Notice the following:

  • Your search terms appear at the top of the page.
  • 874 results were found (745 articles and 43 books).
  • The system expanded this search to include related terms. You can continue like this, or you can search only for muslim women AND gender AND identities.
  • On the left side of the screen, you can see how many items are located at other libraries by selecting Libraries Worldwide.

Scrolling down the list of results, #3 looks promising. Read the summary or abstract, and click View full text to see more.
