I graduated from Alabama State University in 2002 with a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Early Childhood Education. In 2004, I earned a Master of Education (M.Ed.) with a focus on Library Media from Auburn University. In 2009, I graduated from The University of Alabama with a Master of Library and Information Studies (M.L.I.S.) with a focus on academic librarianship.
In 2007, I began working as the Education Doctoral Librarian at Alabama State University's Levi Watkins Learning Center. I was promoted to Associate Coordinator of Research, Instruction, & Engagement in 2023. Prior to this, I was the Assistant Project Manager of a College of Education grant and the library media specialist at the Zelia Stephens Early Childhood Center. I have also worked as a library media specialist for Montgomery Public Schools and as the Assistant Youth Services Librarian at Auburn Public Library.
My primary responsibilities at the Levi Watkins Learning Center involve the practices of research, instruction, and engagement, but I am also the liaison to the College of Education and the Department of Psychology. Additionally, I also manage the Curriculum Materials Center in the LWLC. I have served as the Editor-in-Chief of Alabama Libraries (a peer-reviewed journal published by the Alabama Library Association), and I am Chair of the LWLC Publications Committee, which publishes The Libretto (the LWLC's scholarly publication), All the Buzz (the LWLC's newsletter), and Lift Every Voice.
I am a member of the American Library Association (College, University, & Special Libraries Division), the Association of College and Research Libraries, and the Alabama Library Association.
When I am not working, I enjoy reading, doing yoga, watching movies, hanging out with family, and playing with my dogs.
