Education Doctoral Librarian
I graduated from Alabama State University in 2002 with a Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood Education. In 2004, I earned a Master of Education with a focus on Library Media from Auburn University. In 2009, I graduated from The University of Alabama with a Master of Library and Information Studies with a focus on academic librarianship.
Prior to my position as Education Doctoral Librarian at the Levi Watkins Learning Center at Alabama State University, I was the Assistant Project Manager of a College of Education grant and the library media specialist at the Zelia Stephens Early Childhood Center. I have also worked as a library media specialist for Montgomery Public Schools and as the Assistant Youth Services Librarian at Auburn Public Library.
My primary responsibilities at the Levi Watkins Learning Center are teaching information literacy sessions to graduate and undergraduate students, developing the LWLC's print and electronic collections to support the College of Education, and managing the Curriculum Materials Center.
I serve as the Editor-in-Chief of The Alabama Librarian, a peer-reviewed journal published by the Alabama Library Association. I am a member of the American Library Association (College, University, & Special Libraries Division), Association of College and Research Libraries, and the Alabama Library Association. I also worked on the Alabama Book Festival Committee from 2016-2018.
