Tips & Tricks

Basic Information:

  • Use WorldCat to locate materials
  • Change search location from Alabama State University Library to Libraries Worldwide
  • Click on the title of the desired item
  • To ensure the item can be requested look for "Find a Copy in the Library" heading
  • Below WorldCat click the plus symbol next to "Worldwide libraries own this item"
  • Libraries owning this title will be listed by libraries nearest Alabama State University.
    • Alabama Academic Libraries typically arrive sooner than other libraries.
    • Make sure the item is held by a library in the United States.
    • You cannot request a title already owned by Alabama State University.
  • Click on the blue box on the bottom right to "Request Item Through Interlibrary Loan"
  • Fill out the requested information and submit.
  • Library staff in the ILL department will contact you by email when your request arrives

Off Campus Authentication

  • You must log in if you're requesting off campus. Use 20 followed by your campus wide ID number and a zero.
