December 2023 / January 2024 - What's Happening @ LWLC: MLK Day

"A day on, NOT a day off"

WHEN: January 15, 2024

WHY: It is a federal holiday honoring a modern civil rights fighter. Martin Luther King was born on January 15, 1929 in Atlanta, Georgia and was assassinated on April 4, 1968 in Memphis, Tennessee. 15 years after the death of Dr. King, the U.S. Congress passed a resolution making the third Monday of January a federal holiday which President Ronald Reagan signed into law. Its celebration has taken place each year since 1986.
